sentence middle + けど

けど connects clauses for contrast, or softens a sentence by adding background information.

It is very common in speech. In formal writing, use けれども or が.

この本は難しいけど、おもしろいです。

This book is difficult, but interesting.

Sentence-final けど often leaves something unsaid; it does not always need a full following clause.

Learn けど first as conversational 'but/though.'
