plain form + けれども

けれども connects clauses for contrast, background, or a soft addition.

It is a little more formal than けど and appears in both speech and writing.

この店は駅から遠いけれども、とても人気があります。

This shop is far from the station, but it is very popular.

Do not put けれども between clauses with no contrast or background relation.

けれども is a fuller 'but/although.'
