noun + こそあれ

Explanation

こそあれ admits the preceding point but emphasizes the following judgment.

Usage

It is written style and often followed by a negative or contrasting evaluation.

Example

不安こそあれ、計画を中止する理由はない。

Although there is anxiety, there is no reason to cancel the plan.

Common Mistake

Do not treat it as ordinary が; こそ emphasizes concession.
