N3 · Condition · noun + さえ + verbば形 / i-adjectiveければ / na-adjectiveなら / nounなら

Meaning

as long as; if only

Structure

noun + さえ + verbば形 / i-adjectiveければ / na-adjectiveなら / nounなら

Explanation

Shows that the following result holds as long as the minimum or key condition is satisfied.

Example

住所さえ分かれば、地図アプリで店まで行けます。

As long as I know the address, I can get to the shop with a map app.

Common Mistake

Do not omit the conditional form; さえ and ば work together to form the condition.
