Adds further information on top of the previous statement, often with emphasis.

The two clauses usually point in the same direction, positive or negative.

このホテルは駅に近い。しかも、朝食が無料で付いている。

This hotel is close to the station. Moreover, breakfast is included for free.

Do not mix it up with simple sequence それから; しかも emphasizes added value or degree.

The first point already stands, then a stronger extra point is added.
