Structure

plain form + せいか / noun + の + せいか

Explanation

Shows the speaker is unsure of the cause and only guesses that the first item may have led to the result.

Usage

The following clause is often a naturally occurring state, feeling, or result.

Example

寝不足のせいか、今日は頭が重い。

Maybe because I did not get enough sleep, my head feels heavy today.

Common Mistake

Do not use it for a confirmed cause; use せいで or から when the cause is certain.

Memory Tip

It seems to be the cause, but you cannot assert it.
