Shows that an opportunity, effort, or kindness is valuable or rare and should be used well, or that the result is regrettable.

Often pairs with のに, だから, or なら.

せっかく京都に来たのだから、古い町並みをゆっくり歩きたい。

Since I made the effort to come to Kyoto, I want to stroll through the old streets slowly.

Do not translate it only as 'especially'; the focus is the value of the opportunity or effort.

Something valuable has been gained, so you do not want to waste it.
