Explanation

Shows hoping to reach at least a minimum when the ideal situation cannot be achieved.

Usage

Common in wishes, requests, and concessions.

Example

全部は無理でも、せめて重要な部分だけは読んでおいてください。

Even if reading everything is impossible, please at least read the important parts.

Common Mistake

Do not use it for already sufficient conditions; it emphasizes the minimum.

Memory Tip

If the ideal is out of reach, at least hold the minimum line.
