Explanation

Appearance そうだ judges from visible signs how something looks or seems about to happen.

Usage

Hearsay そうだ follows plain forms; appearance そうだ follows stems.

Example

この荷物は重そうです。

This luggage looks heavy.

Common Mistake

いい becomes よさそう, not いそう.
