Connects to the previous fact and shows that the following result is contrary to expectation.

Usable in both speech and writing, and more conversational than にもかかわらず.

彼は毎日練習している。それなのに、なかなか結果が出ない。

He practices every day. And yet, he still cannot get results.

Do not confuse it with causal connectors; it expresses contrast.

The first says one thing, yet the second goes another way.
