Explanation

In a written, formal tone, shows that there is nothing else, no other choice, or nothing else one can do.

Usage

Often used for conclusions, determination, or resigned explanation.

Example

結果を待つしかない今、私たちにできるのはただ祈るのみだ。

Now that we can only wait for the result, all we can do is pray.

Common Mistake

Do not use it in casual speech; everyday conversation usually uses だけだ.
