Explanation

Recalls something that often happened in the past, or looks back on a past state with emotion.

Usage

Often used with よく and carries a nostalgic or emotional tone.

Example

子どものころは、夏休みになると毎朝川で泳いだものだ。

When I was a child, I used to swim in the river every morning during summer vacation.

Common Mistake

Do not use it for something that just happened; it usually recalls older habits or states.
