Structure

ta-form verb + ら

Explanation

たら forms a condition from the past form plus ら, and can also mean doing something after an event happens.

Usage

It can express a hypothetical condition or 'after/when' a point is reached.

Example

駅に着いたら、電話してください。

Please call me when you arrive at the station.

Common Mistake

Requests and volitional expressions can follow たら, unlike some other conditionals.
