だけど is a conversational contrast marker equivalent to だが or けれど.

In formal writing, use しかし or けれども.

この店は少し高い。だけど、味は本当にいい。

This restaurant is a little expensive, but the taste is really good.

Avoid frequent use in formal essays; it is conversational.

A light spoken turn: だけど.
