te-form verb + しまう

Explanation

てしまう can show completion, and often adds regret, disappointment, or doing something unintentionally.

Usage

In speech it often contracts to ちゃう or じゃう.

Example

大切なメールを消してしまいました。

I accidentally deleted an important email.

Common Mistake

Not every てしまう has strong regret; sometimes it simply emphasizes completion.
