Meaning

shows contrast or a turning point

Structure

te-form verb + も

Explanation

ても means even if the first condition holds, the second still happens.

Usage

Use て-form for verbs, くても for i-adjectives, and でも for nouns/na-adjectives.

Example

眠くても、宿題を終わらせます。

Even if I am sleepy, I will finish my homework.

Common Mistake

This is not permission てもいい; do not automatically translate it as 'may.'

Memory Tip

ても means 'even if that is so.'
