であれ means whatever the stated identity, state, or condition is, the following point holds.

Usage

It is often used in pairs and sounds formal.

Example

学生であれ社会人であれ、学び続けることは大切です。

Whether one is a student or a working adult, continuing to learn is important.

Common Mistake

In casual speech, でも is simpler.
