Shows that something has continued for a period of time, or emphasizes all items of a kind.

The time-period use often sounds emphatic, as in ここ一週間というもの.

ここ一か月というもの、毎晩遅くまでリリース準備に追われている。

For the past month, I have been busy preparing for the release until late every night.

Do not confuse it with evaluative というものだ; this often marks a continuing period or total emphasis.

It packages and emphasizes an entire period or an entire class.
