plain form + といっても

Adds a limitation to the previous statement, showing the actual degree is not as large or strong as it may sound.

Often used to prevent misunderstanding of the previous expression.

海外旅行といっても、今回は三日間だけの短い旅行です。

Although I say it is an overseas trip, this time it is only a short three-day trip.

Do not use it as a generic でも; it specifically revises what was just said.

Say one expression first, then lower the expected scale.
