plain form/noun + としたら

Explanation

としたら presents a supposition and states an idea or result under it.

Usage

It is somewhat more conversational than とすれば.

Example

一週間休みが取れるとしたら、海外へ行きたいです。

If I could take a week off, I would like to go abroad.

Common Mistake

Do not confuse it with a time condition for something already certain.

Memorize “noun + としたら” as one fixed chunk, then practice by replacing words in the example sentence. Learn the connection first, then the nuance.
