〜ないで

ないで means doing the second action without doing the first.

It follows the verb ない form.

電気を消さないで寝てしまいました。

I fell asleep without turning off the light.

Use ないでください when asking someone not to do something.

Memorize “〜ないで” as one fixed chunk, then practice by replacing words in the example sentence. Learn the connection first, then the nuance.
