nai-form verb + くてはいけない

Explanation

なくてはいけない expresses obligation in a full form, stronger and more complete than casual contractions.

Usage

In speech, it often becomes なくちゃいけない.

Example

明日までに申込書を出さなくてはいけません。

I must submit the application form by tomorrow.

Common Mistake

Use the なくて form from the ない form, not the dictionary form.
