Lists two possible choices or actions as examples, implying that the speaker does not require one specific method.

Often used to suggest that the listener choose any suitable method, such as contacting, resting, or asking.

困ったら、先生に相談するなり友人に聞くなりしてください。

If you are in trouble, consult your teacher or ask a friend.

The following part is usually advice or instruction, not merely a description of completed actions.
