Marks the source of information, judgment, or reported news. The following clause often contains a report, hearsay, or inference.

Common with sources such as news, weather forecasts, surveys, and explanations.

天気予報によると、明日の午後から雨が強くなるそうです。

According to the weather forecast, the rain will become heavier tomorrow afternoon.

Avoid making the following clause sound like your direct assertion; it often pairs with そうだ, らしい, or ということだ.

When information has a source, attach によると to that source.
