masu-stem verb + に行く

に行く follows the verb stem and states the purpose of going somewhere.

Do not use the dictionary form before it. 食べるに行く is unnatural; say 食べに行く.

昼ご飯を食べに食堂へ行きます。

I am going to the cafeteria to eat lunch.

Use the verb stem for the purpose of movement; do not insert こと.

Remove ます from 食べます, then add に行く.
