Structure

noun/verb/adjective + に違いない

Explanation

に違いない expresses the speaker's strong judgment that something must be true.

Usage

It is much more certain than かもしれない.

Example

彼の表情を見ると、いい知らせがあったに違いありません。

Judging from his expression, there must have been good news.

Common Mistake

Do not use に違いない without evidence; it can sound assertive.

Memory Tip

違いない means 'there is no mistake.'
