Explanation

に違いない expresses a strong judgment based on evidence that something must be true.

Usage

It is much more certain than かもしれない.

Example

この足跡を見ると、ここに動物がいたに違いありません。

Judging from these footprints, an animal must have been here.

Common Mistake

Without evidence, it can sound assertive.
