はずだ expresses a reasonable expectation based on facts, rules, or experience.

It often appears with a reason. If reality differs from the expectation, のに or が may follow.

電車は十時に着くはずですから、もうすぐ連絡が来るでしょう。

The train should arrive at ten, so we will probably hear from them soon.

Do not treat はずだ as absolute certainty; it is an evidence-based expectation.

Think of はず as “what should follow logically.”
