はず expresses an expectation based on facts or arrangements: something should be true.

Use のはず after nouns and なはず after na-adjectives.

田中さんはもう駅に着いているはずです。

Tanaka should have already arrived at the station.

はず is not obligation; it is expectation or logical assumption.

There is a basis, so it should be so.
