Shows that the first item is naturally true, and the following item is also true or goes even further.

Fairly formal and common in written explanations and speeches.

This app is useful not only for students, of course, but also for working adults reviewing Japanese.

Do not confuse it with もと meaning origin; here it means 'not to mention.'
