AはBより + adjectiveです

This pattern marks B as the comparison baseline with より and says A is more something.

A is the described item; Bより means than B.

北海道は東京より寒いです。

Hokkaido is colder than Tokyo.

Do not put より after the side with the higher degree.

Memorize “は〜より・・・です” as one fixed chunk, then practice by replacing words in the example sentence. Learn the connection first, then the nuance.
