verb辞书形 + ばかりだ

ばかりだ shows that a change continues in only one direction, often a worsening or intensifying trend.

It summarizes a trend, not a one-time action.

何も対策しなければ、状況は悪くなるばかりだ。

If we take no measures, the situation will only get worse.

Do not confuse it with たばかり, which means “just did.”

Dictionary form + ばかりだ is a trend; past form + ばかり is “just happened.”
