Explanation

ばかりに says that just because of one cause, an undesirable result happened.

Usage

The following result is usually regret, trouble, or loss.

Example

一言確認しなかったばかりに、大きな誤解が生まれました。

Just because I failed to confirm one thing, a big misunderstanding arose.

Common Mistake

It is usually not used with a good result.
