Structure

verbば形

Explanation

ば sets the first clause as a condition and gives the result or judgment under that condition.

Usage

Strong commands or volitional statements are not always natural after it; first learn it for general conditions.

Example

春になれば、桜が咲きます。

When spring comes, cherry blossoms bloom.

Common Mistake

Adjectives also have ば forms, such as 安ければ.

Memory Tip

ば feels like 'if this condition holds.'
