ぶる means acting as if one were something, often with a negative judgment.

It appears in words such as 偉ぶる, 上品ぶる, and 専門家ぶる.

彼は少し知っているだけなのに、専門家ぶって説明した。

He knew only a little, but explained things as if he were an expert.

Do not use it for neutral imitation; it often criticizes pretentious behavior.

When someone seems to be putting on an act, use ぶる.
