Explanation

べく is a formal written expression of purpose, meaning “in order to.”

Usage

する usually becomes すべく. It is more formal and written than ために.

Example

新しい市場を開拓すべく、チームは海外調査を始めた。

In order to develop a new market, the team began overseas research.

Common Mistake

Avoid using べく in casual speech; ために is more natural in everyday conversation.

When a formal goal is followed by an action, べく is a strong candidate.
