noun + がほしがる

Explanation

ほしがる describes a third person showing that they want something.

Usage

ほしがっている is common for a currently observed desire.

Example

子どもは赤い風船をほしがっています。

The child wants the red balloon.

Common Mistake

For your own desire, use ほしい, not ほしがる.

Memory Tip

When someone else's ほしい is observed from outside, it becomes ほしがる.
