まだ + te-form verb + いる

まだ〜ている means an action or state still continues up to now.

It contrasts with もう and emphasizes that the state has not ended or changed.

妹はまだ寝ています。

My younger sister is still sleeping.

Use まだ〜ていません for not completed yet; use まだ〜ている for still continuing.

Memorize “まえている” as one fixed chunk, then practice by replacing words in the example sentence. Learn the connection first, then the nuance.
