まだ

Explanation

まだ means a state still continues, or something has not happened yet.

Usage

In affirmative sentences it often means 'still'; in negatives, 'not yet.'

Example

父はまだ会社にいます。

My father is still at the office.

Common Mistake

まだ and もう point in opposite directions: still/not yet versus already.

Memory Tip

まだ feels like the situation remains as it was.
