もう

もう means already, a state has changed, or no longer depending on context.

With past forms it often means already; with negatives it often means no longer.

もう昼ご飯を食べました。

I have already eaten lunch.

Do not mix up もう and まだ; one means already, the other still/not yet.

もう feels like the situation has already crossed that point.
