Explanation

ものの admits the first fact and then states that the result did not develop as expected.

Usage

It is more written than けど or のに.

Example

新しいパソコンを買ったものの、まだ使い方が分かりません。

Although I bought a new computer, I still do not know how to use it.

Common Mistake

The following clause usually contains a contrasting result.
