te-form verb + もらう

もらう means receiving something, help, or an action from someone.

The giver can be marked by に or から. For receiving help, use the て-form + もらう.

先生に漢字の読み方を教えてもらいました。

I had my teacher teach me how to read the kanji.

The subject of もらう is usually the person receiving the benefit, not the helper.

もらう speaks from the viewpoint of receiving help.
