whether...or; no matter

Structure

verb意向形 + が / と + verb意向形 + が / と

Explanation

Shows that whether the first situation or the opposite/another situation occurs, the following is not affected.

Usage

A written expression; the following clause is often a firm judgment, rule, or unchanged result.

Example

雨が降ろうが雪が降ろうが、試験は予定どおり行われる。

Whether it rains or snows, the exam will be held as scheduled.

Common Mistake

Use the volitional form before it; do not attach it directly to the plain form.
