〜ようだ/みたいだ

Explanation

ようだ/みたいだ infer from a situation or say something is like something else.

Usage

ようだ is more formal; みたいだ is more conversational.

Example

空が暗いです。雨が降るみたいです。

The sky is dark. It looks like it will rain.

Common Mistake

Use のようだ after nouns, while みたいだ can follow nouns directly.
