Structure

verb意向形 + としない

Explanation

Shows that someone has no intention of doing something or makes no attempt to do it.

Usage

Often used to criticize, describe an attitude, or observe someone's behavior.

Example

彼は問題が起きても、誰にも相談しようとしない。

Even when problems arise, he makes no attempt to consult anyone.

Common Mistake

Do not use it for inability; it emphasizes will or attitude.
