Structure

A + より + B

Explanation

より marks the comparison baseline: the other item is more or less than this baseline.

Usage

The common pattern AはBより... means A is more ... than B.

Example

東京は大阪より人が多いです。

Tokyo has more people than Osaka.

Common Mistake

The item marked by より is the baseline, not the item with the greater degree.

Memory Tip
