verb辞书形 + わけにはいかない

わけにはいかない means you cannot do something because duty, position, common sense, or circumstances do not allow it; it is not about physical ability.

It usually follows the dictionary form. To say “cannot avoid doing,” use ないわけにはいかない.

明日は大事な試験があるので、今夜遅くまで遊ぶわけにはいきません。

I have an important exam tomorrow, so I cannot stay out late tonight.

Do not use the nai-form when you mean “cannot do.” 休むわけにはいかない means “cannot take a day off.”

Think of it as “the situation does not allow me to do that.”
