Shows that other than the first item, there is no suitable person, thing, or opportunity.

Often used for strong recommendation or declaring the only choice.

この難しい交渉を任せられる人は、彼をおいてほかにいない。

There is no one other than him to entrust with this difficult negotiation.

The following clause must be negative or negative in meaning; do not attach an ordinary affirmative sentence.

There may be many candidates, but only the first one truly fits.
