Structure

noun + をはじめ

Explanation

Presents a representative member and implies that other similar members are included. Often used formally for people, regions, organizations, or groups of things.

Usage

Often followed by plural or range expressions such as 多くの人, 各地, and 関係者.

Example

校長先生をはじめ、多くの方々が式に出席した。

Many people, including the principal, attended the ceremony.

Common Mistake

It does not simply mean to start doing something; it lists a representative member.
