Shows that someone acts in their own way while ignoring surrounding worries, criticism, expectations, or circumstances.

Common with nouns such as 心配, 批判, 期待, 反対, and 混乱.

周囲の心配をよそに、彼は一人で山へ向かった。

Ignoring the worries of those around him, he headed into the mountains alone.

Do not use it for simply not knowing something; it means acting while disregarding an existing situation.

よそ suggests putting something aside.
